Stockley's Jodi
English Setter Dam at STOCKLEY KENNELS

Comments from some happy owners of Jodie's past litters.

3-20-02 - An update re Cassie: Hope you had a good season, for hunting and for your business. I had a lousy season due to Pickett closure to hunting and some health problems, so bagged a meager 10 quail....not much of a test for Cassie. So took her to preserves several times and she has rapidly improved. Does it all and well.....hunts hard and well, responds well to me, solid on point and retrieves every bird w/o any sign of hardmouth. Am very pleased with her and wish I had run into you about 25 yrs ago. On second thought, in those days you were probably smoking those smelly cigars full-time, instead of trying to quit. (Editors note: He HAS Quit!) (And from a senior citizen that admires a fellow redneck like you, you need to quit to protect your health!) Anyway, Cassie is a classic example that supports the rule that "you get what you are willing to pay for." I plan to buy quality flight conditioned birds and stock them on my place in Sept and thru the season, using both the anchor covey system and a Johnnie House/recall approach. Other folks around have had some success with both, so it's either this or quit altogether, and just can't see keeping Cassie w/o hunting her, and have become too attached. Ron Pyle, Blackstone, Va. I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how well Duke is doing. He is by far one of the most personable puppies that I have ever had the pleasure of acquiring. He was so well behaved on the ride up from Eastville, he slept most of the 10 hour trip. I have been working him in the field and he has been doing great. I will have to send you some pictures of Duke scent pointing quail at 3 months old. Well thanks for all of your early attention towards making Duke such a joy to have in the house. (Jodie/Gee litter) Jim Giacobbe, Tewksbury MA

UPDATE 7-7-01- Duke (Jody/Gee) is doing great. I have shot numerous birds over him and he has a great nose. The problem I am having is retrieving. He will head in the direction of the downed bird. He has only brought the bird to hand on maybe two occasions. I wanted to know what you would recommend. I would be willing to send him down to you. That is if you have the time. By the way Duke has the greatest temperment of any dog that I have had in years. He is a house dog and is a constant companion. - Thank You. Jim Giacobbe

I appreciate you helping my wife pick out the pup that will probably be the best bird dog I have ever had . I guess she told you I lost my best setter last year and life just has not been the same since . This past year, every time I went in the field I would expect to see him . He was a big setter weighing about 75 lbs . when he was healthy and could go all day . I'm sure the new pup will meet up to his standards . She is beautiful and smart . We are going to name her "Brown Eyed Sallie" because of her markings . I have not started on the bird wing with her yet ( we just got her home 2 days ago) but I feel that it will be a pleasure with her . She minds so well even at her young age . You make these dogs so sociable when you raise them . That is very unusual and you deserve alot of praise . She will not be a field trial dog but I'm planning on her being a tremendous hunting dog . We will keep you informed . When we come back to Eastville, we will try to bring her to let you see her . Thanks . You have made another setter owner very happy .
